| Alfredo Valente reinterprets the language of the classic style sculpture overlapping on the surface of his works ( sculptures made starting from chalk calques of ancient works and canvas on which he transfers photographs of classic style sculptures) a series of mathematic formulas. In this way he underlines the contrast between the mathematic formulas that evokes rationality, and art that refers to irrational and instinct.
With his works the artist invites us to think with irony about the transformation of signs into symbols: “ the signs to which man give the reasons of their existence , actions and death transform themselves into symbols through historical processes and ideologies becoming myths whose power comes from the incarnation in forms , not only visual, but also from a concluded and unchangeable statute.
