| Susan Robb's recent work investigates dysphoria brought on by a combined sense of dissatisfaction with culture and isolation from nature. To talk about nature, human and that of the earth, this work acts like nature - it isn't purely logical or essentially illogical, but a mixture of both, and thus it is open-ended. It combines some high craft with a pile of craftlessness, existentialism without conclusion, concept with stupidity, concern with disillusion, pattern with randomness, value and insignificance. Robb looks to her environment for answers and through hands-on contact with and manipulation of actual conditions, as well as reflection, imagination and feelings about those things, she creates a strategic disordering of common elements, producing an ideological hybrid between flesh, nature and technology.
