Toshie Takeuchi was born in Japan in 1977. Her interest in photography began at the age of 20. After finishing her education, the artist worked three years in Nagoya, Japan, then moved to London in 2000. She graduated from London College of Communication (former London College of Printing) BA Photography in 2004. After living and practicing in London for six years, Takeuchi returned gone to Aichi, Japan where she now lives and continues her practice. Her work has been exhibited internationally in several group shows including ‘BLESS! Student Photography’ A&D Gallery, London UK (2001), ‘John Kobal Photographic Portrait Award’ National Portrait Gallery, London UK (2002), ‘Winter Wonderland’ Fotografie Forum International, Frankfurt, Germany (2005), ‘VACANT & VIOLENCE’ BEARSPACE, London, UK (2006) ‘Why Look at Animals?’ George Eastman House, International Museum of Photography and Film, Rochester, USA (2006). And her first solo exhibition will be taken in Galleri Image, Aarhus, Denmark in next year. Takeuchi’s ‘Planet of Rabbits’ series is ongoing and a wider portfolio of her work will soon be released.
