188 E. Whittier St. Columbus, OH 43206- Muse Gallery announces its upcoming show of “The Art of Empowerment” featuring Russell Whiting and Muse Gallery Female Artists. Show runs May 16-June 15, 2011. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10-6 pm, Sunday 12-5 pm, or by appointment.
Muse Gallery is taking this opportunity, in correlation with women (events such as Mother's Day, Women's Fund of Central Ohio, and the release of the movie "Who Does She Think She Is?), to feature women artists and a male artist whose handling of the female form in art is relevant to the issues of women. Russell Whiting not only showcases the beauty and strength of women, but because of his personal relationship with the issues of women, we at Muse Gallery felt he was the perfect artist to showcase.
Russell Whiting's work is generally based on goddesses of Greek and Egyptian Mythology. His newest pieces incorporate wood and steel, a rough assemblage of materials that can imply as much about how women are a combination of influences and experiences, as our specific heritage being a mixture of different parts -- all of whi...
