The roots of Ambleside Gallery go back to 1982 when Ambleside Fine Arts was founded in Manchester England. Representing several of England’s leading watercolorists, the company was responsible for the marketing and sales of their works throughout England and North America.
In 1994 Ambleside Fine Arts moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan where it established Ambleside Gallery to showcase its unique collection of British art. In the course of its nine, rewarding years the gallery acquired many new artists, presented more than fifty exhibitions, hosted dozens of special events and assisted in the organizing and running of the Grosse Pointe Arts Council.
In the summer of 2003 the founder of Ambleside, Jackson Mayshark, closed the gallery in Grosse Pointe and moved with his family to Greensboro, North Carolina. With the help of lifelong friend and Greensboro resident, Jan Tucker, a vision for the next phase of Ambleside Gallery was developed.
By the following spring an ideal location was found in the historic district of old Greensboro. At home in the company of antique shops, theaters, book stores, restaurant...
