“Ian Gordon – Latest Exhibition at An Gailearaí,
Fál Carrach”
In 2008, as the year began to draw to a close, renowned Donegal visual arts venue An Gailearaí relocated to new and larger premises.
This move further enabled them to continue to bring top-class exhibitions to the local and wider community, and 2009 will be no exception.

Each year the festival has a theme, with the theme for 2006 being “Conflict and Resolution”. As An Gailearaí is one of three visual art venues included in the festival (in conjunction with The Glebe Gallery in Churchill and the Letterkenny Arts Centre) this is a fine example of successful collaborative work.
Two deep-rooted and related concepts underline various art concerns during the late seventies and eighties. These are place and identity. Where we are, what we stand for, what has formed and continues to inform our sense of difference – these are the questions Northern Ireland artists asked and investigated. A new period of intensive self-interrogation had begun, together with an emergent and confident sense of location. This was facilitated and provoked, in some cases by media attention and enquiry...
