Gordon Cheung: Recent Paintings

Epic in scale and content, Gordon Cheung’s landscapes recall variously the apocalyptic visions of John Martin and the timeless floating world of traditional Chinese brush and ink landscapes brought bang up to date with psychedelic spray paint colours, graffiti and collaged Financial Times listings. He paints a flickering liminal world of information overload, where virtual reality merges with the urban landscape and utopian structures buckle and melt in some suggested natural or man-made disaster. This exhibition provides an opportunity to see more work by this exciting young artist whose work featured in the British Art Show 6 exhibition at the Djanogly Art Gallery and across Nottingham in 2006. |

Hetain Patel & Jason Singh: Sine Language

Sine Language is a new multi-screen film installation which explores the recovery of displaced Indian heritage through sound and physical interaction. Developed through a collaborative partnership, Sine Language examines how cultural dialogue can emerge from the complex rhythms of drumming, the movement of performed actions and the environment of the gallery space.
Alice Maher: Natural Artifice

Alice Maher emerged in the 1990s as one of Ireland’s leading contemporary artists. This is the first major exhibition of her work in the UK and includes representative pieces in a variety of media including sculpture, installation, drawing and photography. Maher consistently draws upon myths, tales and legends, some of them rooted in her Irish Catholic background whilst others are drawn from classical or medieval sources. |
