Gow Langsford Gallery

Gow Langsford Gallery was set up by Gary Langsford and John Gow in 1987 to showcase contemporary New Zealand art. The gallery has developed into one of New Zealand’s most influential dealer galleries, having mounted some 300 exhibitions over the past two decades.

As well as exhibiting local artists, Gow Langsford Gallery has a diverse international programme which includes contemporary artists from around the globe. The gallery represents approximately twenty artists and artists’ estates from New Zealand, Australia, the United States and Europe.

Secondary market works and editions are available by artists such as Colin McCahon, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and Gerhard Richter.

Gow Langsford Gallery is a member of the New Zealand Contemporary Art Dealers Association.

Celebrated British sculptors, Barry Flanagan (b.1941, Wales) and Tony Cragg (b.1949, Liverpool) feature in Gow Langsford Gallery's upcoming exhibition, Heavyweights - Sculpture from the UK. As two of the most important representatives of Contemporary British Art to emerge of their generation, remarkably, it is the first time that Flanagan's work has been exhibited on New Zealand soil and only the second time for Tony Cragg, whose impressive sculpture Clear Glass Stack (1999) was purchased by the Auckland City Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki during his inaugural show at Gow Langsford Gallery in 2005.

The title of this show is derived from the idea that 'weight' is a fundamental consideration in sculpture - not least of all for Cragg and Flanagan who are regarded as 'heavyweights...[ Read all ]

Located in the Auckland CBD, opposite the Auckland Art Gallery, and only 100 metres from Queen Street.

Street parking available on Kitchener Street, or alternatively there are five nearby parking buildings as indicated on map below.

Bus services to the central city run from most Auckland suburbs. The gallery in also located on “The Link” bus route, which circles the city, Ponsonby, Parnell and Newmarket.
