Oriental Vista Focus Statement

In its short history OV Gallery has defined itself as having a deep understanding of and commitment to contemporary Chinese art. Founded by Hong Kong art collector David Lo, OV opened a space in 2006 in Shanghai nestled between the publishing houses and cafes of Shaoxing Road. Over the past few years, OV has attracted attention for the quality and diversity of its exhibitions, curated by our in-house art director and guest curators. OV features both Chinese and international artists working in a wide spectrum of styles and mediums. On display at SH Contemporary are the glass installations of Xu Zhongmin, the calligraphy-inspired conceptual photography of Bai Yiluo, the neon light installations of Xin Yunpeng and the semi-nostalgic, semi-dystopic oils of Jiang Guozhe. In this show, as with all of our shows, we strive not to merely put art on walls but to foster a dialogue and create a much-needed bridge between the public and contemporary art.
