TamarindArt

TamarindArt was inaugurated as a museum in April 2003 by M. F. Husain, one of the most celebrated Indian artists of our time. Featured in the show was "Lightning", a mammoth 12-panel, 10 ft x 60 ft work, his largest. Other exhibitions we have had the honor to present include "50 Years of Bal Chhabda: Paintings in New York," an extraordinary showcase of over half a century of never-before-seen works. The exhibition was Chhabda´s first in the United States, a most reclusive artist; this was only the third solo show of his prolific career. We have also had the privilege of showcasing Akbar Padamsee’s “Lines of Distinction, Strokes of Genius, Works on Paper 1959-2006”.
TamarindArt’s vision is to curate exhibitions that reflect a healthy balance between senior established artists and younger talents working with experimental forms of conceptual installations. Parallel Facets is a unique exhibition that brings together two artists working in two varied mediums vis-à-vis sculpture and painting. Niranjan Pradhan and Samir Aich have both been in the contemporary Indian art scene for over three decades. Each has mastered his medium over the years and is well recognized for his achievements both in India and abroad.

Parallel Facets
Paintings by Samir Aich and Sculptures by Niranjan Pradhan
February 21 - March 17, 2007

New York, New York – February 10, 2007 - On February 21, 2007 TamarindArt will host an opening reception for “Parallel Facets,” a unique exhibition of paintings by Samir Aich and sculptures by Niranjan Pradhan. It is the first combined exhibition at TamarindArt that is showcasing both sculptures and paintings. It is a great opportunity to see works by two of India’s most distinguished artists in their respective fields. TamarindArt will also launch a book on Niranjan Pradhan.
