The Medusa Art Gallery was established in 1979 by Maria Demetriades. The Gallery hosts environments, performances, video, photography and exhibitions of painting and sculpture.
From the outset, the majority of the gallery’s associates were young artists in parallel with internationally acclaimed names such as Takis, Mario Prassinos, Harold Stevenson, Robert Matta and Alexis Akrithakis.
The Medusa Art Gallery has hosted the first solo exhibitions of Nakis Tastsioglou, Anton, Yorgos Rorris, Marianna Strapatsaki, Maria Grigoriadi, Eleni Zouni, Lina Bebi, Panayotis Linardakis, Babis Venetopoulos and others.
In recent years the gallery has been focusing on Greek artists and makes efforts to promote them beyond the Greek borders, through collaborations with art galleries abroad or with the organizers of major international shows.

Eleni Zouni
The Thinker The Touch
26 January - 3 March 2012
On Thursday, January 26 at 8.00 in the evening Maria Demetriades opens the exhibition The Thinker; The Touch with the latest work of Eleni Zouni.
Six years ago the painter embarked on a research project with drawings-references to paintings from the past, where the momentary Touch seems to be the code for interpreting the image.
She uses various materials to paint and convey into contemporary reality the notion of Touch and Engagement with what surrounds us; with what is taking place now. Her works are identical circular journeys of situations and emotions through Time.
Eleni Zouni studied graphic design at the Vakalo School and painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts, under D Kokkinidis. Between 1984 and 1994 she lived in Barcelona and Amsterdam. In 2009 she received a postgraduate degree in Graphic Design & Visual Communication from Derby University –Vakalo College of Art and Design.

YANNIS TZERMIAS
Oedipus
“Images after the blinding”
24 November 2011 – 21 January 2012
On Thursday, November 24 at 8.00 in the evening Maria Demetriades opens the exhibition Oedipus: Images after the blinding with the latest work of Yannis Tzermias.
Yannis Tzermias breaks his silence after an absence of ten years, closing the cycle of works based on the ancient tragedies Medea, Philoctetes, Ajax and Agamemnon with Oedipus. The title of the exhibition, Oedipus: Images after the blinding, points to the eternal conflict between light and darkness, which the painter employs to turn the tragic hero's memories into images.
His paintings and drawings, both large and small, take the viewer on a journey across the hero's tonal space-time through symbolic works which lead to the ultimate catharsis.
Born in Herakleion, Crete (1954). From 1973 to 1977, he studied Graphic Arts at the Vacalo School under E.Vakalo, G.Vakalo, J.Valavanidis, P.Tetsis and D.Gounaridis.
