Galeria Vermelho is a space dedicated to the production of contemporary art with an emphasis on new Medias, to which has an experimental character, values the creative artistic process and stimulates linguistic transdisciplinarity.
Galeria Vermelho opened in 2002, designed by Paulo Mendes da Rocha and José Armênio de Brito Cruz, whose architectural project was to offer the possibility of working with both the internal and external spaces including the gallery façade. Galeria Vermelho expanded its possibilities for mounting exhibitions of different formats this year by creating a supplementary space annexed to the main gallery.
Besides individual exhibitions, Galeria Vermelho develops collective exhibitions that result in systematic encounters of artists where they discuss themes of common interest and share the creative process. There are also collective shows with invited curators; such as Lisette Lagnado (Modos de Usar), Eder Chiodetto and Marta Bogéa (Derivas) and Chris Mello (Imagem Não Imagem); who also worked with meetings and study groups.
