Mark Gould on Cover of Southwest Art Magazine
Taos, NM: After 10 years of creative hard work in this well-known art colony located at the base of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Mark Gould was recently selected as the January Cover Artist for Southwest Art Magazine. His painting entitled “My Neighbor’s House #475” was chosen to grace the publication’s front cover and Gould is also featured in the magazine as one of the “10 Painters on the Rise in 2007. “
This brightly colored, asymmetrical, landscape painting relies on light and atmosphere and is a beautiful example of his personal style, which springs from mid-western roots. Raised in rural Iowa, he graduated from the University of Iowa’s Art Department before embarking on a career as a general contractor. In the mid-80’s, while employed as Coordinator of Traveling Exhibitions at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, he began supplementing his income through sales of paintings and prints.
