Artegiro is about contemporary international art. It is a nomadic and itinerant concept: without a fixed base. Artegiro creates events to engage with art and artists. Artegiro plays with the Italian word 'giro', which means many things: from turn to tour, from journey to walk, from round to a group of friends. All itinerant and playful icons celebrating the role of exchange, transposition and displacement in art as in life. Artegiro questions boundaries and politics of confinement of art or the elitist use of it, beyond mainstream and institutional exhibiting agendas. Artegiro offers to European audiences the opportunity to get to know exciting prominent and emerging visual, conceptual and musical international artists, especially from Australia beyond the traditional spaces of galleries and music venues. Artegiro proposes to bring international artists and Australian art to the European public with a fresh and non discriminating look, away from orientalising and exoticising aesthetics.
