FREEDOM LURKS BEBIND THE TAPESTRY
an exhibition of new works by Carsten von Würden

In Carsten von Würdens abstract paintings you see a quest for sensual closeness both in the work with the physical aspect of color and in color as an optical experience. He works with expanding layers upon layers of paint, looking like woven fabric.
An authenticity ooze from the lush surface and underneath it, when older layers appear in sediments. There are cuts, carving, scraping and scratching with an intense vitality, raw and open; craters are exposed in the scarred, sooty and sensual surface, that call on a touch – organic in richness. Part of the ornament of the canvas is formed by the color – alert and luminous from a palette of oriental warmth and the cool Nordic colors, forming a trace from the two places where Carsten lives and works.
