John Lowrie Morrison OBE, the great contemporary Scottish artist better known as Jolomo, will exhibit 65 paintings in his first solo exhibition at The Sage Gateshead
These works draw inspiration from the rugged coastline of the West coast of Scotland a place where Jolomo lives and works and never tires of painting, continually finding inspiration in his surroundings.
This exhibition will feature his vividly expressionist land and dramatic seascapes of Staffa, Iona, Mull, North and South Uist, Islay and several other Scottish islands.
There are paintings of the the moon rising on Bosta Beach, Isle of Lewis and Tobermory, the evening gloaming on Lewis and Easdale Island, dramatic seascapes of Laggan Bay, Islay and Isle of Coll and other paintings feature the vivid reds, sunny yellows and dazzling whites of crofts in the landscape. What sets John Lowie Morrison from other artists is his ability to see colour and to transfer this on to his canvases.
