ART DEALERS & GALLERIES AROUND THE WORLD
|
 |
| Dean Clough Galleries
Dean Clough was once the largest carpet mill in the world and is now a nationally renowned arts and business complex. It has some six galleries and a rolling exhibition programme that is open to the general public seven days a week. It majors in 2d work by artists from the North of England - but not exclusively so.

| Artists in the rolling programme are chosen on an open-submission basis. The gallery does sell work (and takes commission) but it is not run on a profit basis. Dean Clough gives free studios to some 20 artists who often take part in the exhibition programme - but it does not 'represent' them in any way.

|
Highlights range from retrospectives by senior northern artists (Tony Earnshaw, Tom Wood, Derek Hyatt, Jake Attree, Doug Binder etc) to contemporary shows by Northern artists/curators such as David Hancock (whose show 'Jerusalem' in 2006 included a major piece by Gordon Cheung) and East Street Arts in Leeds.
We also occasionally subscribe to the Hayward Gallery touring programme and works by artists such as Ewan Uglow, Victor Pasmore and Leon Kossoff.
The Henry Moore Studio (1989 to 2003) is no longer extant but featured residencies by Richard Long, Bruce McClean, Alison Wilding, Christian Boltanski, Sir Anthony Caro, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Lawrence Wiener etc.

| Dean Clough is in Halifax, West Yorkshire, HX3 5AX. It is signposted with tourist road signs from most entrances to Halifax. At 2/3rds of a mile long and with 20 foot letters on the roof, most people find us...
