Founded in 2000, GAM | Galerie Obrist am Museum is now situated nearby the Folkwangmuseum at Essen / Germany. The gallery's emphasis is on dealing and communicating of contemporary painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography. In continual and personal collaboration with the artists we convey their work in regular single exhibitions, publications and fairs. 5-7 exhibitions a year are held with works of both national and international artists.
The gallery's program is aligned on the work of artists, who are concerned with basic questions on art. The focus is on art, that deals with art's inherent problems, art reception and art communication, as well as art, that questions the function of art in our society; art positions, which inspire a dialogue in conscious perception of our times.
