Susanna Lobb's exhibition "Heaven and Earth" opened the Hop Gallery's 2013 season with a wonderful exhibition which our visitors loved. Such colour and exuberance really brightened up some grey February days!
This was followed by a short exhibition of work by the late Anne Cathcart which filled the gallery with visitors who remembered her, and her wonderful images.
The Hop Gallery's first Contemporary Art Show was a great success with work by many well known Sussex artists including Peter Messer, Anne Crawford and Jane Wateridge. The gallery hopes to hold a similar event next Spring.
Neville Symond's first solo exhibition at the Hop Gallery was very well received by visitors. They loved his sketches, and to see his latest book "Lewes Locals". A very successful exhibition!
Our visitors were very impressed with Brenda May's 1st exhibition at the Hop Gallery "I Remember - Or Do I?" which featured some super 3D and 2D pieces. We look forward to seeing more of Brenda's work in the future!
Gaylord Meech's second exhibition "Catching My Imagination" at the Hop Gallery has been an outstanding success. His work certainly capt... [ Read all ] |

The new exhibition ‘Order of Change’ at the Hop Gallery in Lewes this May brings together four artists; Irene Marot, Stephanie Kirk, Christina Reading and Val Everitt exploring, in their very different ways, particular aspects of the chaos inherent in transformation or change.
Irene Marot, already well-known as an actor, but now with painting as an important element of her practice, seeks ‘the extraordinary in the ordinary’. Her work is strongly influenced by the Downs where she lives and works and is focused on the feelings and energy experienced in the natural shapes around her.
Stephanie Kirk starts her paintings with an image from real life that has captured her imagination, whether it is a tree, a bird or a figure seen from a ... [ Read all ] |
