Carrie Marill was born in 1976 in San Francisco, CA. Marill's gouache drawings and installations are the culmination of her art practice and scientific investigation, which capture unique moments of beauty and discovery. With an interest in field research, theoretical physics and evolutionary biology, Marill has developed new ways of seeing the interconnectedness of matter, especially as it is manifested in ecological systems. At the heart of her work is the continuous human struggle to reconcile the tensions between the natural world, art, science and lived experience. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States in New York, California, Seattle, Miami, Texas, and Arizona. Recent critical acclaim for her solo show Newfoundland in Los Angeles, and A Big Small Town in Scottsdale, have brought new attention to her work.
