Limerick City Gallery Of Art

Limerick City Gallery of Art’s contemporary exhibition programme is among the best in Ireland. A wide range of artworks and projects by local, national and international artists are presented by the Gallery. The exhibition programme features work in many different media including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, installation and new media.
Limerick City Gallery of Art houses a fine Permanent Collection of works by early eighteenth, nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first century Irish artists. Through this collection it is possible to trace the development of modern Irish art in painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and new media.

The Collection was started in 1936 by a committee of Limerick people and continues to grow through donations, bequests and the Gallery’s acquisition fund.

HERE, AND NOWHERE ELSE. Major solo exhibition of new work by Michael Minnis based on a photographic album of a Ukrainian City, Dnipropetrovs’k, found in a Limerick charity shop. Dnipropetrovs’k was a ‘closed city’ until the 1990s because of its military industry. Minnis’ new work questions the boundaries between painting, photography and film, while exploring memory, time and displacement.

ART FROM THE RUCKSACK 3 - Ireland/Japan Exchange Exhibition. This exhibition features work in painting, installation and ceramics of six Japanese contemporary artists, Tomoko Sugiyama, Aya Sakoda, Masako Nakazawa, Kenchi Higashino, Yuuki Tsukiyama, and Yukinori Yamamura. New artworks will be made onsite at LCGA, facilitating an artistic exploration of location and geography.
Forthcoming Exhibitions
