Rochelle Botello: on your tippy toes mister
In both her drawings and sculptural works, Botello addresses issues such as the self and sexuality. She incorporates the colorful use of everyday materials and fills the potentially psychologically disarming work with humor and absurdity. Like hearing successive tidbits of conversation on a crowded city street she infuses her work with layers of hidden meaning that obfuscate narrative and reveal aspects of the subconscious.
