Stalke Galleri

Stalke Galleri

Stalke was founded in 1987 in Copenhagen, and from the early beginning, we have exhibited several generations of Danish and international artists such as William Anastasi, Lawrence Weiner, Thomas Bang, Dove Bradshaw, and Albert Mertz. They have all grown up from the generation of Conceptual Art. Examples of representatives of the younger generation of artists are Nikolaj Recke, Jes Brinch, Olafur Eliasson, Kristleifur Björnsson, Bella Angora just to mention a few - that all play an important part of the history of Stalke.

Stalke Out Of Space

Stalke Out Of Space travels as an institution from room to room. This allows for a new definition of the concept of “gallery” in that the gallery moves in relation to the individual room, to its meaning and forum as well as in relation to the artist’s use of these components. This idea was founded in 1990.

LOVE AND PAIN Vu Thi Trang

LIFE IN THE FAST LANE Jes Brinch

BACK SPACE:

Stalke is proud to invite you to the two simultaneous exhibitions by Vu Thi Trang and Jes Brinch.
LOVE AND PAIN is an exhibition of paintings by Vu Thi Trang about women’s situation in Vietnam. The paintings tell stories about violence, abuse, poverty, superstition, prostitution, corruption, and love and pain. Trang's paintings are both very serious and fun at the same time, and all the stories told are based on real life.

LIFE IN THE FAST LANE is a series of marble sculptures by Jes Brinch about the use of cocaine. The sculptures show a rock star, a designer, a ballet dancer, a journalist, a male stripper, a gallerist, two priests and a family on coke. The inspiration for the sculptures comes from astonishment about the fact that the use of cocaine has accelerated and become almost common in the last 10 years. A series of brand new paintings are also presented.
