'Three Men and Their Art'
The participating artists in this three man show are illustrator David Hobbs and painters Robert Sample and Julian Southerland – Beatson.
Hastings born David hobs studied graphic design and illustration at Hastings College from 1962 to 1957. He has been commissioned by many national publications, companies and organizations, including, locally The 1066 Story, Smugglers Adventure and Hastings Tourism. David recently completed a series of backdrop watercolors for the Hastings Guide.
Local figurative artist Robert Sample has recently graduated from Hastings College and is enjoying a growing reputation.
Julian Sutherland-Beatson is from Eastbourne. His works are images of Sussex in the style of 1930s travel posters. Last year two of his paintings, one of Eastbourne pier, the other of Bexhill's De La Warr Pavilion, were purchased by the House of Lords.

'Affordable Art'
This is a chance to acquire a piece of original art produced by artists from the historic town of Hastings in the south east of England.
Artist exhibiting are Lynne Bingham, Kate Evans, Heather Hookey, Georgiana de Lussy, Clare Mitchell and Annie Soudain. It the Gallery showcase, Jenny baintun. Working with colour and light Jennie demonstrates her passion for glass by creating formal and casual jewellery working with fused and dichroic glass. |

The Stables Art Gallery’s launch show of 2007, Three Men and Their Art sees the
Gallery enter the digital age with a high-definition video installation by local figurative artist,
Robert Sample, currently enjoying a burgeoning reputation.
Robert is one of three artists all displaying work with a Hastings or Sussex theme. He is joined by Eastbourne-based Julian Sutherland- Beatson, highly regarded for his Sussex images in the style of 1930s travel posters. Last year, two of his paintings, one of Eastbourne Pier, the other
of the De La Warr Pavilion were purchased for the House of Lords.
Completing the trio is Hastings-born David Hobbs who has been commissioned by many national and local organisations and publications, including the 1066 Story and Smugglers
Adventure. Recently he created a series of backdrops watercolours for the Hastings Guide.
Three Men and Their Art runs from 5 March to 7 April, and is open Monday to Saturday,
10.30am-2pm and 6pm-7.30pm. Private view: Monday 5 March, 6.45pm
