Invaliden1 is an artist-run gallery opened in Berlin in the summer of 2005. Five artists from Spain and another from Portugal, organized the initiative in the city in which they live and work most part of the year, to show their work and offer a space for artists and curators linked to the city.
The reasons for this gathering are neither based on a conceptual strategy, nor are they to be found in a shared aesthetic questioning or technical procedure. They are to be understood as a personal complicity between them, belonging to the same generation, and in the affinity of choice brought about by the life style in a metropolis of artists.
The project aims to support Berlin based artists and curators inviting them to make an exhibition according to the space itself without any concessions, supporting international young artists and curators that like the founders of the project have chosen the city to live and work.
