The Plain Truth: The RYBW Series In his most recent body of work, Jason Baerg has produced a series of oil paintings that reflect past, present and future iterations of our positioning in physical, physiological and virtual space.
The compositions were created as part of an online commission for Urban Shaman's on-line initiative, stormspirits.ca. http://www.stormspirits.ca/plaintruth while concurrently drawing inspiration from the themes from the Metroscope, an interactive documentary in development with APTN, the NFB and SUNTV.
Developed in the Unreal Game Engine in 3D, The Plain Truth was inspired from an airplane passenger’s window view of the Great Plains of North America. | As a Visual Artist, Jason has presented at such institutions and Art Fairs as the Walter Philips Gallery at the Banff Centre of the Arts, Toronto International Art Fair, and Art Basel Miami. Mr. Baerg has sat on numerous national Art jury’s for such governing bodies as the Canada Council of the Arts. Jason continues to produce Art and has won several awards through such facilitators as the Canada Council for the Arts and Ontario Arts Council. Graduate Studies in New Digital Media opened doors to grooming interactive architecture skills in Manhattan. On a CFTPA placement with prolific Debbie Nightingale, the Founding Executive Director of Hot Docs, his Media perspectives exploded! Under the wings of the Nightingale Company, Jason supported 12 projects (TV, interactive and feature length film) in various stages of development. |
