Los Angeles, January, 2009 -- Phyllis Stein Art is pleased to present America New Works by Deborah Martin. Mastering a style best described as American Realism, Martin offers us hypnotically lit landscapes painted from a series of Polaroid’s taken on a 2007 road trip through the South. Eerie and compelling, Martin’s work features dilapidated and abandoned structures that ask us to reexamine our cultural compulsion to disregard that which isn’t readily recognized as beautiful, addressing our own imperfection, and ultimately our mortality, in the process.
