The Happy Pose: Song Kexi Solo Exhibition (17 October - 11 November, 2009)
Without hysterical complaint, without self-examination of social problem or strong expression of emotion, Song Kexi’s works are images of innocent creatures, happily manipulated by various commercial and Communist symbols.
Unlike many fellow Chinese contemporary artists, Song Kexi graduated from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Academy of Arts. Despite the artist’s artistic and military training in the Communist army, Song’s post-PLA artwork motifs and context are detached from the soldier life.
Over the Rainbow (31 October - 4 November at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre)
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, as well as the 61st of the Republic of Korea. As the two governments’ anniversaries coincide, Moon Gallery remarks this special occasion with artistic exchange and friendship at “Over the Rainbow”; showcasing an array of artworks by artists from Korea, alongside cutting-edge pieces from mainland China and Hong Kong. |
