14th Street Painters began here in New York City as an artists atelier w/ rental work space facilities, events, & exhibitions in 1987. Programs were added to connect w/ the outside world to educate and update the artists such as Open Studios, figure modeling/ drawing, lectures, etc. All exhibition cost & physical construction were and are still handled by the artists whenever possible. While we have grown in and out of several locations we are still looking to expand our horizons while existing simply for artists. In our evolution we have grown to include basic tools common to artists needs, participation in several •; events connecting the artists w/ the public, and exhibition space on our &•; online gallery.
We have had two galleries in the past which have since closed . We are currently looking for more space to house grass roots facilities for artists in a broader sense which would accomodate multimedia and exhibition space.
