Gallery/Dealer Details - Ambleside Gallery

The roots of Ambleside Gallery go back to 1982 when Ambleside Fine Arts was founded in Manchester England. Representing several of England’s leading watercolorists, the company was responsible for the marketing and sales of their works throughout England and North America.
In 1994 Ambleside Fine Arts moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan where it established Ambleside Gallery to showcase its unique collection of British art. In the course of its nine, rewarding years the gallery acquired many new artists, presented more than fifty exhibitions, hosted dozens of special events and assisted in the organizing and running of the Grosse Pointe Arts Council.
In the summer of 2003 the founder of Ambleside, Jackson Mayshark, closed the gallery in Grosse Pointe and moved with his family to Greensboro, North Carolina. With the help of lifelong friend and Greensboro resident, Jan Tucker, a vision for the next phase of Ambleside Gallery was developed.
By the following spring an ideal location was found in the historic district of old Greensboro. At home in the company of antique shops, theaters, book stores, restaurants and other galleries., Ambleside Gallery has become a cornerstone of artistic excellence and professionalism in the area.
Throughout its twenty-five year history Ambleside has maintained a reputation for the consistent quality of its offerings and its commitment to every aspect of service to its customers.

The gallery beckons visitors to enter a world infused with beauty and thoughtful purpose. Hand-milled cherry wood arches separate each of the exhibition areas. French doors open into a lovely courtyard garden shared by Jules Antiques, next door. Classical music plays in the background.
But the ultimate purpose of such an exquisite setting is to present, in a manner that honors the artists and their creations, some of the finest paintings and sculpture that can be found in the region.
Ambleside Gallery is privileged to represent more than thirty artists of extraordinary talent. Works of art from the US, Canada, England, ,France, Italy China and Japan grace the gallery walls. China’s most revered and renowned watercolorist, Guan Weixing, is exclusively represented by Ambleside Gallery.
Exhibitions, workshops, lectures, seminars and a wide variety of cultural performances are regularly featured at Ambleside.
