After seeing the winner I would like to withraw my negative comment.

I think it is an acceptable entry but nby no means a worthy winner. The design is too derivitave for my taste and the fact that it reminds readers of Pi smacks further of unoriginality - Sean Dixon would surely want an original and unique work to sell his tome in the UK............ me thinks....

I might have the book title wrong, it might be life of pie - it has been several years since I have read it and at the moment I can not remember too well.

This cover is original and is all made by hand. To me it invites all ages and genders with similar atmospher to the book cover of (Living with Pie). The hand artistry begs attention on the book shelves due to its unique and customized imagery that matches the story behind the cover. A sure winner.

Pleasing outlay and vibrant colour.Perhaps it fails to portray the clannish feel, unfortunately.

Wondering what Sean Dixon himself thinks about the quality of 20 books shortlist... This book was published last year in Canada under the title: The Girls Who Saw Everything ( Coach House Books) basing a lot to The Epic of Gilgamesh. Also: Lacuna: means ' empty space' or missing part in a manuscript etc, it might not mean same as Lagoon.

Comapred to others on the list still a strong contendour.

It is necessary time for the judges to retire!! How to choose these 20 book covers. Other participants were much better, certainly this competition is big one joke!
