Around 1900 : an Art Nouveau Ensemble. The Rispal Donation
In the 1960s, Antonin Rispal (1920-2003) played a decisive role in the rediscovery of Art Nouveau in France. This internationally known collector and art dealer died leaving an exceptional collection of objects and furniture. 250 of these pieces have just been generously donated to the museum by his wife and his daughter.
Among the most famous artists represented in this collection, are Carlo Bugatti, Emile Gallé, Louis Majorelle, and there is one of only two known sculptures by Alfons Mucha: La femme aux lys (Woman with Lilies). There are also some extremely rare pieces: a needlework table by Charles-Guillaume Diehl, a dressing table by Paul Auscher and an original plaster model of a fireback by Hector Guimard. Mme Josette Rispal has also offered personally a selection of objects and paintings relating to Sarah Bernhardt.
The Musée d\'Orsay is devoting a special exhibition to this exceptional and unexpected rich addition to the museum collection as part of its twentieth anniversary celebrations.

VU\' at the Musée d\'Orsay
Christian Caujolle founded the photography agency VU\' in 1986 after working for the Libération newspaper, and in 2006 it celebrates its twentieth anniversary. To mark this occasion, and linked to the Musée d\'Orsay\'s own twentieth anniversary, it opened to the public on 6 December 1986. The VU\' agency suggested giving a free hand to five of its greatest photographers: Gabriele Basilico, Rip Hopkins, Richard Dumas, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto, Stanley Greene. They have each photographed one particular aspect of the Museum – its architecture, staff, collections and its public. Their work will be shown in the Museum, in four exhibitions, from 5 December 2006 to 29 July 2007.
