Stedelijk Goes to Town
October 2008 – December 2009
Until September 2008 the Stedelijk Museum was housed at the temporary location of the Post CS-building, close to Central Station. The reopening of the Stedelijk Museum at the Museumplein, close to the Van Gogh Museum, is due for December 2009.
And, in the meantime, is the Stedelijk Museum closed? Not at all! The upcoming 15 months the museum is organising exhibitions, projects, workshops and other activities throughout Amsterdam. Stedelijk Goes to Town is a count-down to the grand re-opening on the Museumplein. What’s on the programme? For the rest of 2008 and 2009, items from the Stedelijk’s superb collection will be on show in major exhibitions elsewhere in Amsterdam.
At the same time, the Stedelijk will be taking contemporary art plus interactive and other projects to unexpected venues in and around the city. Whether you’re an art connoisseur or a complete novice, familiar with the Stedelijk or not, Stedelijk Goes to Town is your best chance ever to experience art, say what you think, find out everything you always wanted to know and take part in workshops.
