Museums around the world: Collection highlights, exhibition details, etc...
| Musée International Du Scoutisme
Unique in Wallonia, the Museum of International Scouting opened its doors in 2004. It is a “living” museum, an educative tool for young people, and a place of memory for the old.
The museum is situated 5 minutes away from the town of Arlon, in an ancient country farm house, housing rare and surprising objects relating the Scouts from all over the world.
The museum is composed of three sections, which different age groups will relate to in different ways. Our older visitors will remember international jamborees, the early day of scouting, the first Scout camp in 1907, and the role of Roi Baudouin in the Scout movement.
Teenagers will be interested in the museum’s collection of illustrated comics and cartoons, with pieces by great figures such as Herge, Joubert, Mitacq and Peyo.
The exhibition of mannequins, representing scouts from all over the world, and scouts in action, will please the younger visitor.
Adults: 2 €
Youth (12-18 years): 1 €
Children (up to 12 years): free
A grand tour with full explanations that helps to fully understand the history of Scouting is an additional 1 € regardless of age.
In 2007, the museum is open from the 16 July to 16 September.
Open Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 2:15p to 5:15p
The museum is closed the weekend of the Pentecost (Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 May 2007) and on all Public Holidays.
Additionally, during the pre-season (1 May to 15 June) and the post-season (15 September to 30 October), groups may arrange special visits.
