I see my work as being produced by a fictional, neo-medieval future with a dim-witted society who occupy an island they call ‘Gr8 Britan’. This community is trying to recreate their lost cultural heritage by making artifacts based on what they see as purely traditional British art. In doing so, however, their lack of knowledge, skill, and the influence of misguided and corrupted search engine/Wikipedia results, produces warped and distorted old master works and national histories. Having also lost the concept of art as a precious object, these newly created historic artifacts then become objects of everyday use, fulfilling the needs and wants of these imaginary people.

Work of art I would like to makeI would like to continue the work that I have developed throughout university, creating a range of paintings and artifacts that would further develop the work and my relationship to the fictional context that I have created. I would probably create some medium to large scale paintings, and some smaller painting and object art pieces. I would also like to continue working in sculpture alongside the paintings. |
