The work has become increasingly interested in portraiture, painting close friends, family and other people of personal interest. The works depict the specific as a space for the familiar and a vehicle to observe the now. These figures are predominately black and the paintings themselves are inevitably and knowingly born from a multicultural experience. The work also references Manet, Alex Katz, cinema, contemporary vernacular and photography.

Work of art I would like to makeI would like to make a new set of paintings. Continuing from the idea of observation and the painting of people. This would include works on paper and on canvas. I would also like to continue to explore and expand these lines of inquiry. |
