Anna StoilovaBorn in Bulgaria. Lives in: Cambridge Anglia Ruskin University
My name is Anna Stoilova and I am a Graphic Design graduate from the Cambridge School of Art, Cambridge.
Among the things I like most is drawing hand-rendered type as well as experimenting with letters by creating 3D sculptures and installations. For more information, please visit my personal website www.annastoilova.com.
The project Nature presented links expressive typography with the topic of natural resource, environment and waste.Letters from wood, plastic, metal and paper were used to form the words of the sentence ‘Good planets are hard to find’. Each of the letters has its unique feel according to the meaning of the words. The letters are three-dimensional, approximately A3 in size.
With the help of hand-made typography and information graphics, 'Nature' introduced the topic of global warming and natural resources to the public.

Work of art I would like to makeIn my recent work, I have investigated the qualities of expressive type through the creation of sculptural, experimental typography. This resulted in an unconventional mixture of typography and fine art.
Although my experiments led to a satisfying outcome, I feel that more research needs to be carried out. I would like to explore the area of hand-made type even further by making bigger and more complex installations.
I would also like to extend my current project into one that will combine and compare expressive typography even further.
The work will reflect current global issues by creating both objective information graphics and subjective expressive typography. This will be achieved through the use of lettering that visually expresses emotive statements and information design for the data and statistics therein. Both data and expressive text will then be compared, and their effectiveness assessed. The finished work will communicate on two levels, targeting both lateral and linear thinking of the spectator.
By using appropriate research and practical work, I would like to create a visually stimulating and intellectually challenging final piece that challenges design orthodoxies.
