Yolanta GaleBorn in United Kingdom. Lives in: London Chelsea College of Art and Design
I am a material based fine artist, my application of skill and choice of material is vitally connected to my concept.
In my work I investigate the significance of the making process in society as a whole and to the individual.
This installation is focused on ideas of connectivity, systems and flows. Fluidity and movement are explored through experimentations with stretching, slicing and stitching the fabric, reflecting the ambiguous nature of control and free will in following and being involved in modern social systems.
I am fascinated by people and in turn society, my work naturally stems from a social perspective.

Work of art I would like to makeQuestioning social issues through the whole process of making, is something I am interesting in exploring further. Focusing on the current reliance society has on mass production and consumption and recognising the potential relationship between the human body and the way society operates is something I am focusing on-
The body’s parts no matter how small or big work together to produce a function, in order for life all these parts need to function and operate together, this idea mimics how a machine works, to simplify it think of a room and all the circuits, pipes both mechanical and digital that enable us to have water, light, heat and internet, all are made up of parts-pipes, wires, valve, taps, modems which has a direct job to do, when these parts are separate they cannot operate as an effective system only but when placed together piece by piece can they produce they’re intended outcome.
As to the reason why humans require the outcome of mass production- objects, or material goods using the idea of machine analogy this becomes clearer- humans like machines are built to make, as previously discussed humans make so that they can develop and survive, humans making is a form of experimentation, a learning process with the product being the final outcome. Using this idea of humans naturally operating as a mass from small bodily functions to large external social functions, brings about ideas of co-operation and collaboration, I intend to explore the natural reliance humans have on Mass and what this entails in both a positive and negative light by opening up collaborative windows throughout my creation process.
