Pablo Laune

Born in Finland. Lives in: Aberdeen
Gray's School of Art

My latest work is an attempt to let people traverse through the new world -my perspective of the world. It is not unlike an installation, but a more contained representation of my world. It leaves the outsider as an audience to the stage instead of encompassing one in it. Navigation through the different levels does not bear chronological importance, but more like a sign of simple continuance. The white space is in a state of change and modification, though it is constantly up kept under strict regime and rules.

Work of art I would like to make

During this year I have created a clear scheme of how to orchestrate and present this hypothetical world. It is a conversation between painting and sculpture, where the clinical 30x30cm plinths that present crosscuts of spaces, merely contain hints of information totally isolated from each other. The paintings opposing the minimal dioramas possess a more creative play of scale and proportion.

This world of mine is represented by fictious processes and personally significant motifs and subjects, where environmental puzzles work as a support to the creation of architectural elements. What started off as a kind of archive of motifs and events, transformed into an analysis of my surrounding. When developing concepts from my life in Britain and art school, I noticed being continuously drawn closer towards environmental issues -the way in which our surrounding is ever changing but still just the same. The world that I create and try my best to portray will never have a narrative, but instead the timeless nature of continuance that we all live in. This macro level up keeping of our surrounding that is bombarded by natural phenomena, renders us like ants working to keep the hive as the hive.

I propose to further concentrate on these topics of milieu and create a more coherent study of my conceptions.
