Martin Kippenberger and his collaborators: works from the Bleich-Rossi Collection
7 October - 24 November 2009

The Bleich-Rossi Collection forms a vibrant and instrumental archive of Martin Kippenberger's life and working practice in the 1980s and 1990s. Incorporating drawings, collages, paintings, posters, multiples, photographs, books and installations the exhibition is testament to Kippenberger's restless energy, extraordinary diversity and prolificacy during his defining years.

This is the first time that Kippenberger and his collaborators are shown together in London and thus marks an exceptional moment in Kippenberger's exhibition history. The exhibition will be installed by one of Kippenberger's most renowned installers, his fellow artist and friend, Ulrich Strothjohann.

The Bleich-Rossi Collection was assembled by collectors and gallerists Gabriella Bleich-Rossi and her late husband Alexander Bleich-Rossi. The Bleich-Rossi Gallery was established in Graz in 1982 by Gabriella and Alexander Bleich-Rossi and supports international artists, with a focus on German and Austrian names. In November 1984 Alexander Bleich-Rossi met Martin Kippenberger in a coffee house in Vienna. That meeting culminated in a long and historically important friendship between the gallerists and the artist and the assemblage of this highly important collection of works by Martin Kippenberger and his collaborators.
