CONNECTORS:
Connectors are designers who, through a visual vocabulary, a
show of their hand and heart, can infuse even the most functional
of objects with emotion; in provoking a response, their creations
bind the user to the maker. What better way to appreciate and
connect to objects than through an understanding of why or how
something was made and by whom? Understanding is connection

Though the digital analogue format is impressive, it's the choreography
that takes place between the minutes that is the real
stunner. Bastian Bischoff and Per Emanuelsson met in
Gothenburg, Sweden in 2007 while attending hdk's (School for
Design & Craft) mfa program for design. Per, a for mer student of
mechanical engineering found a kindred spirit in Bastian and,
upon completion of the program, decided to collaborate under
the name Humans Since 1982. Humans Since 1982 spent over a
year and half developing the analogue to digital language that the
Clock Clock employs. This prototype was exhibited in 2009 at the
Röhsska Design Museum, Gothenburg.
Max Lamb's Spoon Study United Kingdom, 2008 was executed
during his 2008 stint as a product design tutor at the prestigious
Ecole Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne (ECAL). Max Lamb's spoon
study is one of the sweetest and purest explorations of medium,
form, and process. Max's language fluidly traverses woods,
metals, plastics and stone and in this case uses techniques that
range from electroforming to whittling. His comfort in multiple
mediums is rarely seen in young designers but is ever apparent
in his work and especially here in Spoon Study. A native of St.

London -- Kate Who? An exhibition of 7 selected works by Mario Testino will be on view and for sale from July 20 at Phillips de Pury & Company's exhibition space at the Saatchi Gallery. 11 prints are currently showing at Phillips de Pury & Company.
The photographs are a series of 18 exhibition prints celebrating Mario Testino's work with his favourite muse Kate Moss; selected iconic images that will also be produced in a book "Kate Moss by Mario Testino" (Taschen, 2010). The colour images are high glamour, provocative and provide an intimate testimony of his friendship with Kate spanning over two decades. Comparable to Irving Penn's extraordinary relationship with Lisa Fonssagrives, David Bailey's with Jean Shrimpton's and Norman Parkinson's with Wenda, Testino uniquely extracts a quality no other photographer could, a catalyst occurs and magic is made visual. There is the possibility of everything and anything when Mario Testino and Kate Moss work together, their relationship endures and stays vividly alive allowing Testino's pictures of Moss to transcend fashion.
Mario Testino comments, "Kate represents the ultimate kind of woman, an icon of our times. Not just an image of beauty, but of a life-style, an attitude. She has been a catalyst for many things and transcends the notion of a model who models a 'look' or a hair style - she represents a world, a whole way of being, living in a moment where everything is communicated globally and without restraint."
"Kate Moss is the quintessential woman of our time. Her iconic impact can only be compared to women from other eras such as Marilyn Monroe, Botticelli's Venus or to the Mona Lisa. Like her illustrious predecessors, her myth will forever be associated to that of a great artist; in her case Mario Testino." Simon de Pury, Chairman of Phillips de Pury & Company.

Opening in September 2010 'Todo o Nada' 'All or nothing' is Testino's first exhibition in Spain, at the Museo Thyssen Bornemisza in Madrid. It will feature 54 works that have been largely taken from shoots for Vogue, Vanity Fair, V Magazine, Allure and The Face, but also included are a number of personal works, edited from his archives and some new portraits created specifically for the exhibition. Testino has created a series of images which tells an unfolding story of his relationship to his female sitters. All the photographs in Todo o Nada are of women, from the glamour of great models dressed in extravagant couture, to the edgy and humourous nude of the model, Patricia Schmidt, apparently drinking a bottle of Chanel No 5 from a straw like a carton of juice.
