My inspiration for this Photograph came from my interest in natural decay and places that have been left to decay and rot over time. I came across this place whilst travelling around. I saw a decayed and broken down glass house in between some trees and decided to explore the mysteries inside. The place was truely amazing and the place must have been decaying and left to suffer the elements for years. The photograph I have chosen to submit is this one of the type writer. I decided on this photograph from the numerous I have because I think it shows how the lack of human presence has left this functional object to become like a ghost. Without function it has no life and sits on a table redundant and useless. My artist influences for this comes from Whiteread and her cast boxes and buildings. She casts spaces to retain their existence and retain memories which over time can be lost. I did do both a colour digital and manual black and white shoot of the type writer but I think the manual shoot captures the death and the mysteries of the place well. |
