Receiving Reality
Photo Description:
‘Receiving Reality’ By Florence Brassey, from Queen Anne’s School, Caversham. A2 Materials: ‘Devore’ Technique on Velvet. Last year I explored ‘vectorisation’, part of the mystery of modern, digital communication. I took the mystery of this painting and using this contemporary technique which is similarly enshrouded to some, created a post-modern version of a masterpiece from the past. This year my studies of Gerhardt Richter’s approach to painting influenced my experiments with received information. I developed this from a series of paintings into using textiles processes, creating a hybrid lying somewhere between fine art painting and textiles for my examination unit entitled ‘combinations and alliances’.
