Growth and Decay: Fruit

Growth and Decay: Fruit
Photo Description:
‘Growth and Decay’ By Kana Takarada, from Queen Anne’s School, Caversham. AS Level Materials: Based on the theme, "Encounter", I wanted to choose an encounter of something colourful and vivid. It was the colour of fruit which first attracted my attention to them as suitable subject matter, and I chose fruit because we get great energy from them which I hoped to convey through my painting. To make my painting dramatic, I enhanced the contrast by dramatic strong artificial light on the subject matter. Also, I selected strawberries and kiwi fruit as they have complementary colours, and so against the black background they created a more powerful appearance. I tried to make them look three-dimensional and realistic. I hope you can absorb some of this colour energy from my fruit!
