I began my project by thinking about my personal and family heritage. From this idea I developed ideas for designing a dress made from images of my family and materials specific to my heritage. I then moved on to look at faces of myself as a child and my other family members. I used these images as a basis for my final head sculptures and placed them on the moulds in such a way to distort them as many of the family members I looked at I have never met before. By focussing on my personal heritage I was able to study specifically the faces and traits of my grandparents and great grandparents through my artwork. |
