Installation produced in response to 'Animals'. The installation reverses the zoo experience, inviting humans to step inside the cage to feel as zoo animals might. The inside of the cage resembles a human home, with carpet on the floor, wallpaper on the inside and basic food supplies. The ceiling of the cage is painted with the heads of zoo animals, as if looking down on whoever occupies the cage. The work attempts to put the audience in a space of confinement, whilst also trying to open up discussions about the artificial environments we create. |
