The inspiration of this composition is mainly from Viktor and Rolf’s show called ‘Fashion Show’ and I chose to base it on London, as it is one of the main Fashion capitals of the world. My piece also has silver framework and lights being its own fashion show. To interpret London into my piece I decided to use mix media such as acrylic paint, ink, fabrics, paper, embellishments, wool etc on the skirt of the dress. I selected icons and items in the current news that effect our everyday life. I represented rebelliousness with Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss’s link with drugs, Jonathon Ross and Russell Brand’s prank calls and the Gordon Brown and Alistair Darlings massive error regarding the economy. Charity, Theatre, Sport, Fashion, Transport, TV and places of interest where also represented. As I believe heavily in recycling I have made the basque of the dress from an old leather jacket and riveted the back so it can lace up. The ribbons and mixed media used represent the colours of London’s National Flag, red, white and blue enhanced with black for depth of field.
