In looking at unusual viewpoints and angles in relation to the relationship between people and food, this installation depicts a concept associated with obesity. Inspired by Jenny Saville's oil techniques and Dali's realism, the notion underpinning this piece is one of a human feeling trapped in their own gluttonous endeavours. This is illustrated in the detail of the figure not actually fitting onto the frame painted on. The idea of the image being painted on a box in a symbol of a sardine can portrayal, in which the figure is trying to escape.
The black pallard over the eyes is a symbol of embarassment, however, the figure looks to convey a sense of false happiness to society which explains the confident posing. This juxaposition may be seen on the differenent angling of the piece- of which some sides the posing is more confident than the others.
