This piece symbolises the links between the intangible and constant in life. I wanted to create a piece that represents human existance and how insignificant the individual is in the grand scheme of things. The bodies are juxtaposed with permanent sections of flesh that depict how part of us remains after death. The figures represent the three graces disappearring into smoke, whilst the areas that remain are the most erogenous on a female body. The permanence of these sensuous areas exaggerates the three graces symbolic position as representations of feminine perfection throughout time. The combination of materials (ink, emulsion & oil) adds to the uncontrollable quality of human life. |
