This is a cast of a childhood toy. I like the way that it looks cold and haunting and lifeless due to the cold plain colour. It looks to be cast in space as a memory rather than a play toy. The cast looks delicate and fragile like the colour has been drained from it over time. I think that it relates to the work of Judd and Whiteread because they are casting sometime in time. They cast spaces and I have cast an object that already occupies space. To highlight the feeling of haunting and to emphasize the fragile shapes I have cast the train only as a thin shell of plaster. This shape broken looks like they have been lost and discarded. They are decaying away and they begin to highlight a life cycle. As things get older, functions and needs are lost. Things go out of date and when things break they are discarded.
